Job Description
We are looking for a highly driven Senior Accountant to support domestic and international accounting operations. The role will be a critical member of the Accounting and Finance team and will support the month-end closing process, assist with audit and tax preparations, and oversee the processing of A/P transactions. This position requires excellent verbal and written communication, solid MS Excel skills, and an individual who is detailed oriented, a self-starter, independent, flexible, and has the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment managing competing deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Ability to quickly learn a new environment and system
- Ability to effectively interact (verbally and in writing) with functional department managers; establish trust and build relationships
- Coordinate accounting functions, posting, and reconciling accounts payable and receivable.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, post journal entries.
- Reconcile bank accounts.
- Perform various treasury functions, such as cash management and forecasting.
- Maintain and distribute the weekly aging A/R report.
- Support annual audit, tax, lease, and insurance preparation.
- Contributing to the development of new accounting policies and controls.
- Run ad-hoc reports out of multiple systems and connect relationships.
- Can analyze and work with large amounts of data.
- Collaborates with accounting team and other departments to resolve financial and accounting issues.
- A demonstrated understanding and experience and solid working knowledge in the application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Monthly Closing tasks (Reconcile bank accounts, AP and AR reconciliation, and General Ledger Journal Entries posting)
- Help with year-end financial audit activities.
- Assess current accounting practices and procedures and make recommendations for improvements.
- Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies, control over financial reporting and procedures
- Participate in various department-wide initiatives
- Must demonstrate the highest level of ethical behavior and compliance capability while in the workplace and/or performing duties on behalf of Able Freight

- All other work-related duties as assigned by the Controller
Skill & Experience
- Certified Accountant (ACA, CMA, CPA) licensing in progress is a plus.
- 2 years of public accounting experience is preferred.
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
- Ability to read and analyze financial reports, contracts, and other legal documents
- Proficient level computer skills in MS Office (e.g., Word, Outlook)
- Ability to work efficiently and meet all deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work well independently as well as in a team environment
- Excellent Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, database connections).
- Ability to work independently; thrive in fast paced environment, handle multiple tasks, and prioritize responsibilities.
- Strong attention to detail and highly organized.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Curious learner with strong ethic of continuous improvement.

EDUCATION
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or in a relevant technical subject
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures preferred
- Experience in the freight forwarding, airline, or logistics industry
